About the Camp

The Annual Children’s Camp – Rainbow Dreams is being organized for children aged between 8 to 12 years, from 29 September to 6 October 2019, at Society House, Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry.

The duration of the camp is 8 days. The general timings of the daily activities will be from 7:30 am to 8:00 pm, with ample amount of time for rest and relaxation for the children.

Why This Camp?

The main objective of our children’s camp is to materialize the dream of a beautiful new world of tomorrow, which will be fashioned and realized by the children of today. To be able to realize the dream, children need guidance to know their own selves, to realize their true potential and learn to nurture and strengthen all that is noblest in their nature. They need support to progress integrally by developing all the qualities and faculties latent in their nature, not only to face various challenges of life but to fulfil their true mission of life by giving a concrete shape to their highest aspiration towards truth, light and beauty.

During the camp, the children will be provided a playful environment, enriched with love and care, where they will enjoy exploring their inner abilities. Through various activities, such as a visit to the Ashram farm, chanting of Sanskrit shlokas, painting and paper craft, storytelling, dance, educational games, project learning, etc., they will be able to engage their bodies, minds, emotions to the fullest and get closer towards their deeper selves.

The camp also provides children several opportunities to enj

oy learning together as a group as well as independently through individual explorations. All the sessions are designed in such a way that the participants can also learn some necessary values such as taking care of the materials and appropriate use of things, cleaning up the place after any activity, utilizing their free time in a very productive and fruitful manner by working together harmoniously, behaving considerately and in a friendly manner with all the adults and co-participants, etc.

In addition, a health awareness session is also organized to make them aware of their different body parts, and how to take care of them. There will also be a farm visit where they will learn about different plants and flowers, conscious organic farming and how to maintain the fertility of soil, and many such activities.

Other information of essential items to be brought for the camp will be mentioned in the selection letter.

Orientation for Parents

As the children are going to be occupied with activities throughout the day, we have also organized sessions for parents who are interested in ‘self-development and parenting’. These sessions will be held for 2 hours in the late morning, at the same venue for 5 days. There will be no extra fee charged for these sessions. The exact schedule of the sessions and timings will be given in the selection letter for those parents who opt for them. Regularity in participation, once confirmed, will be beneficial and much appreciated.
