On the auspicious occasion of Siddi Day, AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society is organizing a National Conclave on ‘Krishna Consciousness and the Supramental Transformation: Siddha, Siddhi and Sadhana in Sri Aurobindo’s Spiritual Vision.’
Siddhi Day, observed on 24 November, commemorates the descent of the Krishna Consciousness into Sri Aurobindo’s physical consciousness in 1926, marking a decisive milestone in the history of his spiritual sadhana and the evolution of his Integral Yoga. This momentous event, associated with the establishment of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, signifies an important step in the preparation for the supramental transformation of human consciousness.
Sri Aurobindo’s spiritual vision offers a profound understanding of Lord Krishna not merely as a divine personality of the past, but as a living spiritual reality and a manifestation of the Divine Consciousness. Krishna Consciousness represents a state of spiritual realization characterized by divine presence, love, knowledge, delight and the dynamic action of the Divine in human life. Its realization opens the possibility of a deeper transformation of individual and collective existence.
The National Conclave on Siddhi Day, organized by AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry, seeks to explore the significance of Siddhi Day in the light of Sri Aurobindo’s spiritual experiences and teachings. It will examine the relationship between Krishna Consciousness and the supramental transformation, with particular emphasis on the interconnected concepts of Siddha, Siddhi and Sadhana.
In Sri Aurobindo’s spiritual vision, Siddha refers to one who has attained spiritual realization; Siddhi signifies spiritual attainment or the realization of divine possibilities; and Sadhana denotes the disciplined spiritual journey through which consciousness is progressively transformed. These concepts acquire a deeper significance in Integral Yoga, which aims not only at individual liberation but also at the transformation of human nature through the progressive manifestation of the Divine Consciousness.
The conclave will bring together scholars, spiritual practitioners and seekers to reflect on Sri Aurobindo’s understanding of Lord Krishna, the nature of Krishna Consciousness, the spiritual significance of Siddhi Day, and the pathways of sadhana leading towards a higher consciousness. It will also explore the relevance of these insights for contemporary humanity and the possibility of a more conscious, harmonious and divinized life on earth.
Through scholarly presentations and reflective dialogue, the conclave aspires to deepen the understanding of Sri Aurobindo’s spiritual legacy and inspire a renewed engagement with the transformative ideals of Integral Yoga.
The central objective of the conclave is to explore how Krishna Consciousness, understood in the light of Sri Aurobindo’s spiritual vision, can become a foundation for inner realization and the progressive supramental transformation of human life.
