AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society announces the International Conference on “Siddha for Global Health: Integral Perspectives” and Launching of Web Portal on the Siddhas, scheduled to be held at Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry on 20th February, 2026.
Siddhar Agathiyar is considered as the father of Siddha medicine and was born in Star Ayilyam in the Tamil month of Margazhi. The Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India celebrates his birthday as Siddha Day every year. This time, the Ayilyam star and hence it was proposed to observe the Siddha Day.
Siddha Day reaffirms the timeless relevance of the Siddha tradition to humanity. Revered as the father of Siddha science, Maharshi Agastya’s contributions span medicine, yoga, alchemy, philosophy, linguistics, and ecology, reflecting an integrated vision of life and health. Maharshi Aurobindo has extensively written on the legacy and contribution of Maharshi Agastya.
The theme for the 9th Siddha day is “Siddha for Global Health,” highlighting the global significance of Siddha medicine as an ancient yet scientifically grounded health system. To celebrate this auspicious event, AuroBharati, SAS will organize “International Symposium on “Siddha for Global Health: Integral Perspectives.” A key highlight of the event will be the release of a dedicated Web Portal on Siddhas, envisioned as a knowledge hub for practitioners, students, researchers, and the global community.
The observance of Maharshi Agastya’s Birth Anniversary as Siddha Day thus serves as a meaningful platform to honor a great seer and to reaffirm Siddha’s role in advancing global health and holistic living.
