The SVARNIM Puducherry team comprising of Ms. Shalini Aravindan and Shri Raghunath T. P. visited Delhi and Haryana on from May 3 to 8, 2019, with the objective of getting a first-hand experience about skilling centres being coordinated by Unifiers – an organization specialized in initiating and running skilling centres. Mr. Vikrant Abrol of Unifiers had arranged the visit during his visit to Sri Aurobindo Society and subsequent to discussions that the SVARNIM Puducherry team had with him.
The team visited two skill centres in Haryana – Bhiwadi and Bahadurgarh – to look at the feasibility of replicating similar programmes under SVARNIM Puducherry’s skill, vocational and social enterprise fronts. One of the skill centres is run by Honda Motors, administrating regular training prorammes for skilling in automobile sector. The other one is the Footwear Development Institute, in Bahadurgarh, run by Haryana Government under the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and facilitated by a cluster of 300 non-leather footwear industries.
The team had also an envisioning consultation process on SVARNIM Puducherry with a focus on land, water and agriculture as core themes to look at sustainable livelihood work.
