“An aimless life is always a miserable life. Every one of you should have an aim. But do not forget that on the quality of your aim will depend the quality of your life. Your aim should be high and wide, generous and disinterested; this will make your life precious to yourself and to others.”
—THE MOTHER, CWM 12:3

As a part of collaboration between Sri Aurobindo Foundation for Indian Culture (SAFIC) and Pondicherry University, a series of special lectures, talks, exhibitions and programmes have been organized in February–March 2019 which will continue in the upcoming months. On February 22, 2019, a special lecture on ‘Deeper Aim of Life’ was delivered by Dr. Sampadananda Mishra, Director, SAFIC, at Department of Applied Psychology, Pondicherry University, Puducherry. The participants comprised of the students and the faculty of the Department of Applied Psychology and a few students from other departments too. The discipline, the interest and the level of interaction of the students were extremely noteworthy.

The content of the talk was based on the following words of the Mother of Sri Aurobindo Ashram:

“An aim gives a meaning, a purpose to life, and this purpose implies an effort; and it is in effort that one finds joy. … Effort makes the being vibrate at a certain degree of tension which makes it possible for you to feel the joy.”

“Your aim should be high and wide, generous and disinterested.”
