Camp at Bankura
On August 12, 2018, Sri Aurobindo Society, Bankura Branch (WB12), organized a one-day Youth Camp at the branch premises. Twenty youth participated in the camp from nearby schools and colleges.
The facilitators Sourav Chattoraj and Jayantika Basu carried out the sessions. The programme commenced with hoisting of the Mother’s flag, followed by floral offering at the feet of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo.
The sessions highlighted the importance of that this camp and encouraged the youth to give their full attention and participation to this camp. The concluding session turned out into an interesting discussion on inner awareness and its necessity for progress followed by distribution of certificates.
Camp at Kovvur
A camp was organized on August 30, 2018, at Sri Aurobindo Society – Kovvur Centre premises with an intention to strengthen the local community activity by empowering the youth residing in the area. A total of 15 participants, which included a few students from SVJV Sanskrit College, Kovvur, partook in all the activities of the camp. They have shown their interest and willingness to attend the camp again.
The first session introduced the purpose of this workshop and explained the ‘Aim of Life’. The following sessions discussed the influences on their quality of life and encouraged students to have a goal/aim of its highest nature and to stay focused on it sincerely and spiritually. One of the facilitators also explained the story of a ‘Master and Zen Archer’ which kept the participants connected and concluded the session with an intense meditation.
The next sessions were on the theme ‘Values for Success’, emphasizing on the values ‘Courage & Generosity’ and ‘Perseverance & Gratitude’. These insights were given through presentations, a few examples of history and thoughts on the same. The students also showed interest by sharing their past actions where they showed their gratitude. The facilitators concluded the sessions with a meditation and showed them few breathing exercises. This workshop was more on a one-to-one interaction as the number was quite low and the students also participated actively.
After the concluding session, there was certificate distribution and photo session, post which the students gave their feedback and took initiatives to speak out their experiences of the workshop, which were extremely positive.
Camp at Rajahmundry
A one-day AuroYouth Camp was organized at the GIET Degree College, Rajahmundry, West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh.
The programme started with the Principal Valli Madhavi addressing the students with a brief introduction of Sri Aurobindo Society, Kovvur Centre. She highlighted this camp to be on ‘Values for Success’ and encouraged the students and the faculty to be a part of this camp.
The topic of the camp was explained through various practical life examples. The participants were asked many questions regarding their aims in life which balanced their spiritual and material aspirations such as money, success and recognition vis-à-vis acquiring good qualities and a peaceful inner life.
Finally, an Introduction to Sri Aurobindo, the Mother and Sri Aurobindo Society was given through PowerPoint presentations.
The workshop concluded with Vote of Thanks by Dr. Savitri – Secretary, SAS – Kovvur, who urged students to be a part of nearest centres, followed by a certificate distribution which was done by the principal, other faculty members and photo session.
