Kerala Governor P. Sathasivam has appreciated Sri Aurobindo Society’s Zero Investment Innovations that focuses on improving the teaching as well as the learning process in today’s education. “I understand that the Zero Investment Innovations for Education Initiatives (ZIIEI) focuses on strengthening of teacher’s role through more effective communication and an empathetic approach,” he said in his message which was released today.
ZIIEI is a mass-scale teacher outreach initiative that empowers teachers to come up with small, yet innovative ideas to transform education in government schools. The programme has been able to bring qualitative changes in education in over 20 states and Kerala too is planning to implement the ideas to scale up the quality of education in the state.
The governor said that these methods that require no monetary investment have helped students in focusing their attention on curricular activities and in improving knowledge levels. He said that initiatives like ZIIEI have helped in improving the enrolment rate in schools and addressed the issue of absenteeism.
“I sincerely hope that more and more teachers would adopt the methods suggested through ZIIEI and use new age teaching techniques, games, concept mapping and other innovations to improve the students’ capabilities and the learning environment in our schools,” he said.
