Students of Sri Aurobindo Siksha Kendra Bishnupur in West Bengal were busy preparing for their first-term examination from 1 to 9 March, 2018, scheduled to be held on 2 April 2018. Special emphasis was given on implementing Integral Education during the preparation.
Parents –teachers meetings were held on 1, 8 and 20 March, 2018, in which parents were made aware of the special significance of Integral Education.
In the school’s vital class, details of the lives of Sri Aurobindo, the Mother and Khudiram Bose were shared with the students. Special emphasis was laid on conversation during class from 12 to 16 March, 2018. Following meditation every morning, special conversation classes are also taken to enable children to speak in English fluently.
In the school’s junior classes, children are taught alphabets and numbers with songs and instruments and in the senior classes – I & II – Literature and others subjects are taught using Theatre.
From 19 to 23 March, in EVS classes, the students were made to get familiar with local flowers, birds, trees and animals; while in science class they were made aware of how the ecosystem works and the environment.
Meanwhile, from 24 to 30 March, Sonali Sarkar, Saheli Mondal (Teacher In-Charge), Debasree Bakuli (Assistant Teacher) visited Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Delhi branch, to take training in Integral Education. They were trained on various subjects and activities such as Integral Teacher, Self-Awareness, Story-telling, Theatre Experience, Self-Observation, Integral Health, Yoga, Music and many more topics.
At the Ashram, meditations were held every evening in front of the pictures of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo Siksha Kendra, which was a beautiful experience.
