As a part of Sri Aurobindo Society’s RUPANTAR programme (www.rupantar.in), the project Zero Investment Innovations for Education Initiatives (ZIIEI) reaches out to teachers across the country to identify their zero-investment innovations and ideas and scale them up to millions of schools. In 2016, the project recognized 30 teachers for their innovative best practices, and as on March 2018, 300,000 schools are standardizing their education methodologies and practices.
Taking this movement forward, ZIIEI has incorporated these zero-investment innovations into the various states’ board curricula, and compiled into a series of books titled ‘Innovative Pathshaala’. The books form a classroom teaching tool that enable teachers to teach any topic of any subject of any class using a choice of more than 10 experiential learning activities – all requiring zero monetary investment.
‘Innovative Pathshaala’ was officially launched by Mr. Anil Swarup, Secretary, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. He said, “MHRD has notified specific learning outcomes for each grade, and we are looking forward to on-ground action in accomplishing this. Innovative Pathshaala is one such exemplary initiative of the on-ground action, that too led ‘by the teachers, for the teachers.’”
The Innovators whose ideas have been published in IPs were also awarded by Mr. Swarup. In addition, selected Education Officers were also felicitated for their outstanding contribution to the Zero Investment Innovation drive in Uttar Pradesh.
