Svarnim conducted an advanced Water Hyacinth Training Programme for 34 women from Kochi, facilitated through Jain University, at the Society House. The programme was inaugurated in the presence of dignitaries, who addressed the participants and underscored the significance of turning water hyacinth, an invasive aquatic weed, into a sustainable source of livelihood. The training was structured as an advance-level exposure visit, giving participants focused, hands-on guidance on harvesting, processing, and weaving water hyacinth fibre into marketable products. Raw hyacinth reeds sourced from Bahour Pond were used through the sessions, allowing participants to work with the material from its natural state through to finished
craft. Participants practised weaving techniques to create baskets, mats, and other handcrafted items, building practical skills in product creation while exploring new livelihood opportunities that can be replicated in their own communities.
As part of the programme, an exhibition of water hyacinth products was organised, displaying baskets, mats, and other woven items crafted by the participants. Visitors and dignitaries interacted closely with the women, examining the finished products and discussing their craftsmanship and market potential. The exhibition served as a valuable platform to showcase the livelihood possibilities of water hyacinth craft and to encourage wider appreciation and support for the initiative.

Svarnim extended water hyacinth awareness and experiential learning sessions to students of Shree Bharath Vidyaashram School, Puducherry. The session introduced students to the environmental challenges posed by water hyacinth as an invasive species, while also highlighting its potential as a resource for craft and livelihood. An exhibition was organised at the school to showcase products made from water hyacinth, giving students a first-hand, engaging understanding of how an ecological problem can be transformed into a productive and sustainable opportunity.
Together, the training programme, exhibition, and school awareness session reflect Svarnim's integrated approach to water hyacinth management — building livelihood skills among women, showcasing the commercial potential of hyacinth craft, and nurturing environmental awareness among the younger generation.
