On 25th July 2026, Sri Aurobindo Society released the first six films of its new documentary series, Wonders of Nature Around Us, at MatriNiketan, Puducherry, alongside a simultaneous online premiere. Set in backyards, balconies, neighbourhoods and streets across India, the series uncovers the hidden science and quiet marvels of the plants and animals that share our everyday surroundings. Through engaging storytelling and scientific insights, the films invite viewers to observe familiar natural phenomena with renewed curiosity, wonder and appreciation.

The launch was attended by nearly 100 participants, including around 60 students from schools in and around Puducherry, making it an enriching educational experience for young learners. Deepika Kundaji, recipient of the Nari Shakti Puraskar and creator of Auroville's Pebble Garden, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In her inspiring address, she narrated the Sangam-era story of King Vel Pari, who sacrificed his royal chariot to support a fragile jasmine creeper—a timeless episode from the Purananuru that beautifully illustrates India's enduring tradition of reverence, compassion and selfless care for nature.

The documentary series was produced through the collaborative efforts of AuroVanam, Svarnim, AuroMedia and Evanescence. The first six films explore fascinating themes such as Biomimicry, Geometry, Feeding, Locomotion, Poisons & Venoms, and Home Builders, revealing how nature's ingenious designs have evolved over millions of years to solve challenges of survival, adaptation and coexistence. The series aims to inspire scientific curiosity, deepen ecological awareness, and foster a greater appreciation for the intelligence, beauty and interconnectedness of the natural world.
