A collaborative programme between Pondicherry University and AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society, was held at the Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems and Agamic Studies, Pondicherry University. The event brought together scholars and faculty engaged in the study and preservation of Indian knowledge traditions. Prof. Kirti Trivedi, Centre for Design Studies, Sri Aurobindo Institute of Technology, Indore delivered an insightful lecture on “Temple Architecture,” highlighting its aesthetic, symbolic, and cultural dimensions within the Indian architectural tradition.
On this occasion, the superannuation ceremony of Prof. Chandramouli, Professor of History, Pondicherry University, was also held and was marked by appreciation for his academic contributions. As part of the Memorandum of Understanding between Sri Aurobindo Society and Pondicherry University, support was extended for the development of the Centre for Agamic Studies and Indian Knowledge Systems, including the design of a Diploma programme in IKS.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kishor Kumar Tripathy, Member Secretary, AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry emphasized on Sri Aurobindo’s profound vision of Indian culture and heritage, highlighting its spiritual depth, continuity, and universal relevance. Underlined the
importance of preserving traditional knowledge systems not merely as historical or academic subjects, but as living frameworks that can guide contemporary thought and practice.
Prof. Clement Sagayaradja Lourdes, Director of the Directorate of Culture and Cultural Relations (C&CR) at Pondicherry University, Dr. M. Vijayakumar, University Librarian of the Ananda Rangapillai Library at Pondicherry University, Professor Madhu Khanna, Academic Mentor of Center for Agamic Studies and Indian Knowledge Systems shared their views on this occasion. Faculty and students of various departments attended the session.
