As part of the Women’s Council Seminar on “Significance of Prayer” held at the Sri Aurobindo Society from 20–22 November 2025, two sessions were facilitated by Shivakumar and Priti from SAFIER, the Integral Education Initiative of the Society.

On 20th November 2025, Shivakumar started the interaction on “Life As A Prayer” with the focus on two components of a Prayer: whom to pray to, and what to pray for. Through a series of quotes from Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, he shared that prayer is a spontaneous expression for something precise that one wants to ask for, and this is formulated in words.  Through reflective activities, participants identified what was most important to them and then expressed it in the form of a written prayer, discovering how words carry power and create intimacy with the Divine. The session highlighted the Mother’s call to make one’s entire life a prayer, and her encouragement to write daily prayers as a practice of aspiration, gratitude, and surrender.

On 22nd November 2025, Priti’s two‑hour session “From Word to Light – Visual Meditations on the Mother’s Prayer” invited participants to discover prayer as a living practice of union with the Divine. Drawing on Sri Aurobindo’s affirmation that the Mother’s prayers are records of her realizations, the session highlighted how prayer, when consciously offered, awakens devotion, serenity, and intimacy with the Divine Presence. The experiential heart unfolded through a meditation on the Mother’s prayer of 10 May 1914. Participants selected resonant words or phrases, then translated their inspiration into colour and form, painting with the Mother’s music in the background. This practice echoed the Mother’s call to consecrate both writing and art as sadhana, invoking her force through creative expression. The sharing that followed revealed how prayer expressed through art deepens bhakti and surrender, culminating with reflections on Radha’s Prayer of complete offering to the Lord. In essence, the session became a journey from word to light — from aspiration to realization, devotion to union.

Together, the two sessions helped participants see prayer as both a way of living and a creative offering, deepening its true significance in daily life.
