At the onset, let me thank you for organising this wonderful workshop which was led by Vivechana Saraf. Truly grateful to you both for putting this up together.
We met Vivechana, quite accidentally in April during our visit to Pondicherry. We learnt that she was hosting an exhibit on Sacred Geometry. We ended visiting the exhibit over 4 days for a couple of hours each time. It was such an evolving and transforming journey for me and my wife. We took notes of almost all the content on display. There started my deeper connection and curiosity about exploring this beautifully divine world of Sacred Geometry. I was specially encapsulated by the sacred geometry of the Sri Yantra. And you may call it true calling of some sort that shortly after our visit, I got a chance to participate in a virtual workshop hosted by Vivechana on the ‘Sri Yantra’ and its construction. It was a soul nourishing journey over 4 days learning what Sri Yantra is, to making it and being in the realm of Sri Lalita Tripura Sundari.
Post that, this wonderful second opportunity came where NAMAH organised this virtual workshop on the ‘The Universal Language of Mandalas’.
My realisations during and after the workshop:
As the topic indicates, this was another journey of exploring the sacred geometry human beings used over centuries to connect to the Divine. The way this workshop was conceptualised was no less than being on a pilgrimage through various religious shrines, learning about the ideology, the pathways to realise the supreme conscious being and what role sacred geometry played in designing the pathway.
Mandalas, the forms of beauty that hold a chest of information which have been leading countless beings to realise their supreme consciousness by doing sadhana with them. Also, they have been helping other beings in daily Rythm of life to be connected to the supreme through the form they hold. It as if these forms are continually speaking to us and guiding us to see the true essence of life. They are living and ever changing.
Various religions have designed their unique ways of using geometric patterns to create beautiful mandalas which have been improvised limitless times to discover the boundless wisdom they carry. In fact, the Mandala is a sacred geometric form that doesn’t have a fixed pattern and is ever evolving as per the light of the one who is involved with it.
From Hinduism to Buddhism to Islam to Christianity, these religions have evolved at different points in time. However, this universal language that each of these practices use to create heavenly geometric forms is truly sacred in nature. Each is unique and each is beautiful and inspiring. I just wonder how human beings have resonated to this sacred geometry and inculcated it our lives such that we can stay connected to the divine outside us as well as connect to the Divine with us at the same time.
The 4 days dedicated to this workshop, with 2.5 hours each day, didn’t do justice to the expansive topic that was taken up to learn and explore. Hope we can have longer duration workshops around the same topic in future. However, I got a peek into the topic and I remain curious to go deeper into the sacred geometry that these Mandalas display.
