Participating in the Developing a Mantric Body workshop felt less like attending a programme and more like entering into a space where the atmosphere was intentionally cultivated to invite the soul to listen, to soften and to remember its luminous origin. Over the course of four days, under Shweta’s gentle guidance, we were drawn into a process of awakening the body to the subtle force of mantra, not merely as sound, but as a vibration, a presence, and an inner becoming.

This was not a course in the intellectual sense. There was no rush toward achievement, no ambition to ‘master’ anything. Rather, what was asked was sincerity, patience and an openness to subtlety. Shweta reminded us repeatedly that the mantra is not a technique; it is more a movement of the soul. It is the Divine’s rhythm made audible.

What unfolded across these four days was a progressive tuning of our awareness, from the noise of the surface mind to the silence of the deeper self, from the effort of recitation to the grace of spontaneous mantra. Through breath, stillness, visualisation and carefully guided movement, we began to peel back the layers that dull our inner sensitivity. The body, often seen as a barrier to spiritual experience, was slowly revealed as a vessel capable of holding and radiating the mantric force.

Each session invited us to remain in stillness and in silence, a pause in which something else could speak, something older, truer. We were asked to feel our breath carrying the mantra like a current of love. The mantra, became an anchor, then a river, then a living presence. At times it felt like it was chanting at oneself.

Perhaps the most profound aspect of this immersion was the invitation to experience the body not as a passive container but as a conscious collaborator in Sadhana. Visualisations, such as the mirror practice or the wrapping of the Mother’s Force around the body, awakened forgotten dimensions of presence.

Shweta did not shy away from speaking about resistance and how inner opposition may arise, how the body or the mind might rebel against this inward turning. But these challenges were not framed as problems. Rather, they were seen as part of the journey, signs that deeper purification is underway. We were reminded again and again: sincerity is the key. The Divine does not ask for perfection, only the childlike offering of oneself, as one is.

By the end of the fourth day, there was a palpable change, not just in understanding, but in texture. The quality of silence felt different. The body, quieter. There was a lingering echo of the mantra even when not actively reciting it as if the body had become receptive enough to hold its vibration naturally. This, perhaps, is what was meant by a ‘mantric body’: not one that speaks the mantra, but one that is spoken by it.

In the final moments, we were invited to offer our practice to the Divine. Not as a conclusion, but as a continuation. The mantra, we were told, is not just a practice to be done, it is a presence to be lived with. To carry it into the movements of daily life, into walking, pausing, breathing, listening; this is where the real sadhana begins.

Looking back, the four-day immersion was like stepping into a sacred stream. The current was gentle, but it carried depth. One could enter it again and again, each time discovering something new, not in information, but in being.

What it is clear is that the process of developing a mantric body is not finished. It cannot be. It is a lifelong journey of ripening into receptivity, of aligning every layer of our nature to the Divine vibration. But perhaps now, with this experience in our cells and breath, we walk a little closer to the mantra. Or maybe, it walks with us.
