Holistic Health Camp: Ayurveda and Allopathy for Rural Women

Start Date:20-Jul-2024

End Date:20-Jul-2024

Location:Satyam Community Centre

Institute:SARVAM, Puducherry

On 20 July 2024, SARVAM, in collaboration with CPCL, organised a medical camp and health awareness program at the Satyam Community Centre in Puducherry. The event featured a blend of Ayurveda and allopathic medicine, providing a comprehensive healthcare experience for 75 women from eight villages.

The camp aimed to integrate holistic and natural treatments with modern medical practices, addressing both preventive and curative health aspects. Participants received personalised care tailored to their unique health needs, including comprehensive health check-ups, blood pressure and diabetes screenings, and sessions on nutrition and mental health. Additionally, essential medicines were distributed for free.

The educational sessions, particularly on nutrition and mental health, were well-received. Attendees learned how healthy foods could act as medicines, with examples such as turmeric's anti-inflammatory properties, garlic's immune-boosting benefits, and the antioxidant-rich nature of berries. Incorporating these foods into their diets can significantly contribute to overall health and well-being.

The camp provided valuable information on maternal health, nutrition, and disease prevention, along with access to medical check-ups and treatments that are otherwise unavailable in remote areas. Educational sessions on hygiene and healthy eating further empowered the women to make informed health decisions.

The participants expressed immense gratitude and enthusiasm for the camp, reporting that they felt more informed about their health and appreciated the holistic approach to their well-being. Many requested more such events, highlighting the importance of accessible healthcare in their communities. This initiative has the potential to significantly improve long-term health outcomes by increasing awareness of preventive care and early detection, leading to a reduction in chronic diseases and healthier lifestyle choices.
