On 25 June 2024, SARVAM, in collaboration with CPCL association, conducted a medical camp and health awareness programme for 200 village women from five villages at the Satyam Community Centre, Puducherry. This initiative aimed to provide essential medical attention and raise health and hygiene awareness among the participants.
At the general medical camp, a team of physicians and nurses from A.G. Padmavathy Hospital, facilitated by SARVAM coordinators, attended to over 200 individuals from Poothurai and neighbouring villages. Each participant had their blood pressure, weight, and height measured, followed by treatment recommendations based on the diagnosis. Patients with comorbidities received free medication, significantly improving their ability to manage their conditions and overall health outcomes. The gratitude of the villagers, especially the elderly and disadvantaged, was evident through their appreciative smiles.
In conjunction with the medical camp, a health awareness programme was held, focusing on addressing common health issues and the importance of hygiene. Trainers educated participants on the origins and effects of various health disorders, stressing the importance of preventive measures, regular check-ups, and seeking professional help. Special emphasis was placed on the significance of anaemia and preventive steps women should take.
The event concluded with participants expressing their appreciation to SARVAM and advocating for expanded healthcare services. This collaborative effort highlights SARVAM's ongoing commitment to improving the well-being of the communities it serves.
