The ‘Metamorphosis’ workshop conducted by Preeti Mahurkar unfolded over 4 days. The objectives of the event focused on integrating concepts from NLP/Emotional Intelligence with Integral Yoga and how the process can be used to move away from ego-driven behaviours to realise one’s highest potential. The speaker explained the various NLP tools to achieve this and demonstrated how to integrate spirituality in daily life, using NLP tools through common daily-life scenarios and how these tools can be used to tackle them.

The basis of the NLP/EI tools and techniques is the NLP communication model which is based in the understanding of how the brain receives many signals from external stimuli and how the response is shaped by perceptions we have within ourselves to the same stimuli. By re-programming these beliefs, values, memories (Meta programmes), we can effectively change our behaviour into responses, which ultimately have an impact on our physical reality. Techniques like re-framing, anchoring, swishing, visualisation, etc. are aids that help in reprogramming our Meta programmes for better outcomes.

The speaker emphasised that, while traditional spirituality acknowledges rising above the mind away from ego-based behaviour, often in our daily active life there is a gulf that emerges in the state experienced in meditation and bringing that state to active life and a disconnection is perceived. NLP/EI techniques and tools help to bridge this gulf in active life and are mentioned as great aids to practise dynamic spirituality.

The workshop covered ample examples of daily-life scenarios to practise spirituality in daily life to unlock one’s true potential. The workshop was attended by about 15 people and the feedback was very good. Valuable “life lessons” were learnt from the clear explanations and meaningful interactions, feeling the experience of “living fearlessly” amid the “comforting and welcoming” atmosphere of the four sessions.
