SARVAM, in collaboration with the Indian Overseas Bank, has initiated the "Health Care – Rural Development" programme across 12 villages in Vanur taluk, Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu, running from February 2023 to January 2024.
As part of this comprehensive programme, SARVAM conducted an awareness programme and health camp at the Satyam Community Centre, Poothurai, benefiting over 300 community members. The primary aim was to address fundamental health issues prevalent in the region.
Recognizing the pressing need for improved healthcare, SARVAM has been actively involved in combating high rates of illness, disease, and mortality in the surrounding settlements. Regular awareness programmes and medical camps have been instrumental in addressing this critical healthcare gap.
During the awareness programme, trainers enlightened participants about the causes and effects of various health conditions, emphasizing the importance of proactive measures. Tips for prevention and management were shared, alongside encouragement for regular check-ups and seeking professional assistance when necessary. Over 300 women actively participated in this enlightening session.
The health camp, organized in collaboration with the Mother Theresa Postgraduate and Research Institute of Health Sciences, Puducherry, brought together highly qualified specialists. Doctors and paramedics advised attendees to avail themselves of the Tamil Nadu government's medical card for subsidized or free healthcare. Comprehensive screening, diagnosis, and referrals were provided, addressing prevalent issues such as BP, diabetes, and anaemia. Treatment options were offered based on diagnoses.
Participants expressed gratitude to SARVAM and urged the expansion of healthcare services, reflecting the positive impact of this collaborative endeavour. SARVAM remains committed to enhancing the well-being of the communities it serves.
