As part of Renaissance team’s work on its upcoming issue with the theme – Life, Literature and Yoga – releasing on May 21, a special 2-hour online session is being organised on the topic: “What Draws me to Sri Aurobindo’s Poetry?”

Invited speakers for the webinar include:

Dr. Charan Singh Kedarkhandi: A teacher, seeker and poet, Dr. Charan Singh Kedarkhandi completed his doctoral studies on Sri Aurobindo’s Savitri. He teaches English literature at Govt. P.G. College in Joshimath near Badrinath in Uttarakhand. He has authored several poetry collections in Hindi and English. Deeply involved in various activities of Sri Aurobindo Society, he was instrumental in establishing Sri Aurobindo Study centre in Joshimath. In the past, he also served as state secretary for Sri Aurobindo Society, UP & UK.

Ms. Gayatri Majumdar: Writer, editor, publisher and founder of the critically acclaimed Indian literary journal The Brown Critique (1995–2015), Ms. Gayatri Majumdar began her career as a journalist in Mumbai. Gayatri’s work has appeared in a large number of Indian and international journals and anthologies; her published books include poetry collections, fiction and also non-fiction. She is co-founder of ‘Pondicherry Poets’ and has been co-curating the annual Pondicherry/Auroville Poetry Festival and several other events around the country. She is also affiliated with Sri Aurobindo Society, Pondicherry, primarily working with its publications wing.

Dr. Shaurya Brahmbhatt: Dr. Brahmbhatt is Assistant Professor, Department of English, at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, He also serves as the Coordinator for the university’s Centre for Sri Aurobindo Studies and Centre for Theological Studies. With deep interest in Sri Aurobindo’s poetry, poetics and especially Savitri, Dr. Brahmbhatt is currently researching on the topic – ‘Poets of Sri Aurobindonian School of thought: Evaluating the construct and relevance of future poetry with special reference to the works of K D Sethna, Pujalal and Sundaram.’

Dr. Shruti Bidwaikar: Dr. Shruti Bidwaikar serves as Assistant Director at Sri Aurobindo Centre for Advanced Research, Puducherry. She did her doctoral research at Pondicherry University on Sri Aurobindo’s poetry, poetics and aesthetics under the mentorship of Dr. V. Ananda Reddy. Dr. Bidwaikar is interested in Sri Aurobindo’s literary and cultural writings particularly and continues to write research papers and give talks on these areas.
