On January 24, 2023, Svarnim Puducherry hosted a one-day workshop on communication skills at their premises.
Children are the main focus of Svarnim Puducherry, particularly the children of Pondicherry's government school. SVARNIM conducted this communication skills development workshop for its coordinators working with these children. The main objective was to scale up the communication skills of the coordinators.
Ms Krishna Mukherji, Soft Skills Trainer, Internationally Certified US Voice & Accent Coach and American Culture Awareness Coach, was the facilitator.
She has over 30 years of professional experience in US accent coaching, US culture coaching, Soft Skills coaching, teaching, banking, and financial counselling across India and the United States of America.
The training began with ice-breaking sessions to introduce the participants.
Some critical areas of training are as follows:
- Effective communication versus efficient communication
- Dimensions of body language
- Role of body language
- Steps of communication
- Barriers in communication
- Types of communication
- Four different communication styles
- Four different behavioural styles
- The connection between behavioural styles and communication styles
- Transactional analysis
The facilitator engaged the participants by having group discussions and some activities. Videos were played during the sessions, making the workshop interesting and informative.
Ms Krishna Mukherji also shed some light on presentation skills. Later, it was decided that separate training sessions would be organized for all the soft skill topics to benefit the team.
Around 20 coordinators, including the Director of SVARNIM, Mr Raghunath, attended the workshop.
