Svarnim Puducherry runs 12 Bridge Education Centres in the villages of Puducherry where children belonging to economically weaker sections are attending evening classes with guidance from trained volunteer-educators on basic language (Tamil and English), Maths and also using STEM methods to make the process of education fun and interesting. These centres have the basic objective of helping the children to catch up with their two years of lost learning when the schools remained closed for almost two years.
Children have activity-cards being prepared and distributed and the volunteer-educators get fortnightly capacity building training from the Svarnim Puducherry team. They use common spaces for collective learning like temples, roof tops etc. which also encourage peer-to-peer learning between children.
This activity has been ongoing for the last few months and children are showing exceptional enthusiasm and participating very well.
