As part of the Dept of Science & Technology, Govt of India funded project on Water Literacy, Svarnim Puducherry conducted a training workshop on water quality monitoring (WQM) where 14 basic water quality parameters can be tested using a certified water testing kit. The trainees would later reach out to the water bodies of Puducherry (lakes, ponds, rivers, lagoons etc.) and will be part of a Community Based Water Quality Mapping to be carried out. This is also part of the WaterFest22 - a people's movement for knowing the water resources of Puducherry, understanding them, studying and researching them so that communities are better prepared to protect them and transform them into improved structures. Svarnim Puducherry is already working on the rejuvenation of several water bodies in Puducherry and have created a new lake "Oomarankadu Lake) near the Mullodai river mouth in Bahour commune.
