For the past 17 years, Sri Aurobindo Rural & Village Action & Movement (SARVAM), the integral rural development initiative of Sri Aurobindo Society, has been carrying out various educational and empowerment activities in the rural villages of Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu. From one village, its outreach now covers over 60 villages and more than 1,50,000 populations. On February 2, 2022, SARVAM celebrated its Annual Day at the SATYAM Centre, Poothurai village, Villupuram District, Near Puducherry.
With the village officials, students, coordinators, volunteers, women and youth present, the celebration began as the programme entered into its 18th year of existence.
The programme began with a meditation, followed by the lighting of the lamp and the offering of flowers to express deep gratitude at the feet of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. The hall was decorated beautifully with natural leaves. It was also an occasion to look forward to the future with all its opportunities and challenges.
The programme went on for a whole day and it was like a family gathering. Each participant enjoyed the events and shared their memories with others. The gathering dispersed with happy faces.
